Pop art artists not only quote images from everyday life but also use them as symbols or systems of symbols. In particular, figures like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Claes Oldenburg incorporated well-known elements of society, such as Marilyn Monroe’s face, Mickey Mouse’s image, Seven-Up’s trademark, and Dick Tracy’s comic strip, into their works. By integrating these symbols and their own themes, they expressed their artistic ideas. Similarly, artist Lee Jin-hyuk combines and transforms familiar images in his own way, recreating them into new aesthetic images. Adopting images from Andy Warhol, a pioneer of pop art, is not only a gesture of respect for Warhol, who opened new doors in contemporary art, but also an intention to carry on the spirit of contemporary art itself.
